DIY DECKING REVAMP – THE RENOVATORS

Garden decking can become weathered and worn as the seasons change. Here’s the best way to get your deck back to looking its best:

Recommended Tools:

Step 1: Brush it back

Sweep your deck, removing all dirt and leaves.

Step 2: Scrub the deck

In a large bucket mix Deck Clean with water. Using a tough brush and the Deck Clean mix, scrub the deck thoroughly.

Step 3: Check for loose boards

Assess your timber decking boards for any loose screws or boards to replace.
Use a Reciprocating Saw to cut out timber boards to replace. Use an impact driver to tighten off loose screws or fix down new lengths of decking timber.

Step 4: Sand it back

Sand back any sharp edges or rough sides. A Belt Sander makes quick work of removing large amounts of material on flat surfaces. A Random Orbital Sander gives a great finish when paired with varying grits to bring your timber back to a smooth finish.

Step 5: Finish it

Give your deck a final once over with a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove sanding dust and debris. Get your decking coat or oils out to finish your newly revamped deck.
