HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT JIGSAW BLADE

Jigsaws are such a versatile tool and there’s a whole range of blades out there to suit so many types of materials. If you’re not sure which jigsaw blade you need, we’ve got some handy hints to help you find the right one.

When choosing a jigsaw blade you will need to know the material you’re cutting as well as the thickness. Take a close look at the blade packaging as it will usually list what material it’s suited for. With the right blade, you can cut all types of timbers, hard and soft metals, plastics, tiles, and glass, just to name a few.

Generally, the more teeth on a blade, the finer the finish. It’s also better for harder materials as you’ll get more teeth inside the cut. The width of the blade usually determines how tight a curve you can cut. The wider the jigsaw blade, the better it is for straight cutting, and the thinner the jigsaw blade the better it is for intricate, curved cutting.
